In the most recent report from the NCAA for the 2022-23 academic year, seven Xavier teams achieved perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. These teams include men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s tennis, and volleyball.
The overall four-year Academic Progress Rate national average for Division I teams remained constant at 984 this year. This marks the 20th anniversary of APR data collection, during which student-athlete academic success has significantly increased. Xavier men’s tennis, women’s golf, and volleyball all achieved perfect scores of 1,000 for their multiyear rate.
Compared to the four-year period before the COVID-19 pandemic (2015-16 through 2018-19), the overall national average across all sports increased by one point. Specific changes at the sport level were minimal, with baseball increasing to 978, football decreasing to 963, men’s basketball increasing to 968, and women’s basketball decreasing to 981.
The national four-year APR is now 984, up one point from the previous publicly reported rate in May 2020. Men’s basketball saw a two-point improvement to 968, while baseball (977), football (964), and women’s basketball (983) maintained their four-year averages.
