. – The Penn State women’s hockey program revealed its 34-game schedule for the 2024-25 season on Friday morning.
The Nittany Lions, coming off their second straight AHA Tournament title, will play a challenging non-conference slate featuring six NCAA tournament teams from a season ago, including rematches with Cornell and UConn on the road.
Penn State will compete in three regular season tournaments this season beginning with the Ice Breaker Tournament in Columbus, Ohio as Penn State, Ohio State, Stonehill, and Cornell will all be facing off beginning Friday, October 25 against Cornell.
The two winners of the opening games will battle for the title on Saturday, October 26 following the consolation game played earlier in the day between the losing squads. All games will be played in downtown Columbus at the OhioHealth Ice Haus which is the practice home of the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets.
Penn State will also compete at the annual Smashville Tournament located at the Ford Ice Center which is owned by the NHL’s Nashville Predators. The Nittany Lions will face Merrimack in the first round of the tournament on Friday, November 29 followed by either the winner or loser of the game between Clarkson and St. Thomas on Saturday, Nov. 30.
The final regular season tournament will be held at Ritter Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the annual East West Showcase beginning on Friday, January 3 against Bemidji State. The Nittany Lions conclude the trip the following day against the host Gophers.
Penn State will play 20 games against Atlantic Hockey America foes Robert Morris, Mercyhurst, RIT, Syracuse and Lindenwood, with 12-straight games to conclude the regular season.
The 2025 AHA postseason will open with the single game quarterfinal round beginning on Saturday, February 22. Following the quarterfinal games between the six and three and the five and four seeds, the AHA semifinals will take place from February 28-March 2. The semifinals will pit the lowest remaining seed against the number one seed of the tournament, as well as the second-lowest remaining seed at the number two seed. The AHA championship game will take place on Saturday, March 8 with the highest remaining seed playing host.
