The historic Wimbledon Championships for 2024 is set to begin Monday in London, marking the third Grand Slam of the tennis calendar and the final major event before the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Top-ranked Iga Swiatek from Poland and No. 2 Coco Gauff from the U.S. will be the main attraction in the women’s singles competition, both eager to clinch their first Wimbledon title. Swiatek recently defeated Gauff in the 2024 French Open semifinals before going on to win her third consecutive French Open and fifth Grand Slam title.
Defending champion Markéta Vondroušová of the Czech Republic, currently ranked sixth by the WTA, will also be returning to Wimbledon after making history as the first unseeded woman to win the tournament last year.
In the men’s competition, No. 1 Jannik Sinner from Italy and No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz from Spain are the frontrunners. No. 2 Novak Djokovic of Serbia, with seven Wimbledon titles and 24 Grand Slam titles, is yet to confirm his participation due to a recent knee injury.
Alcaraz will aim to retain his 2023 Wimbledon title after securing his third Grand Slam title at the 2024 French Open. However, he faces stiff competition from Sinner, who currently sits atop the ATP world rankings after winning his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open earlier this year. If Djokovic returns, it will set the stage for a captivating three-way battle for the men’s singles trophy.

The 2024 Wimbledon Championships kick off on July 1 and run until July 14, featuring daily matches throughout the tournament. Singles competitions commence on Day 1, with doubles competitions starting on Day 3.

ESPN will exclusively broadcast the 2024 Wimbledon Championships across its family of channels, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN+, ESPN Deportes, and ABC, starting at 6 a.m. ET on July 1.
All matches will be available for streaming on the ESPN App with an ESPN+ subscription or TV Everywhere. ABC will air select matches on weekends, while the Tennis Channel will provide nightly coverage during the tournament.
