TEXARKANA, Texas — Representing the USA women’s gymnastics team, Joscelyn Roberson from Texarkana is currently in Paris. Former coach Lloyd White expresses no surprise at her representation of the country, describing her as family and another daughter to them. White, along with his wife and daughter, coached Joscelyn for over a decade at North East Texas Elite Gymnastics. He highlights her fearlessness, recounting a moment when she, at the age of five, confidently approached the highest beam in the gym and challenged herself without fear.
Her excellence in gymnastics was evident at the US Trials in June, where she tied for first place, securing her qualification for Paris. White admits to feeling nervous during her performance on such a big stage, despite her previous experience. He mentions the upcoming Olympic Games and the artistic gymnastics event set to take place on July 27.
Roberson is currently practicing with the team in Europe, with White mentioning that only an injury would put her in competition. He expresses confidence in her readiness, mentioning her exceptional abilities and power. Should the need arise, Roberson, an incoming freshman at Arkansas, is prepared to step in and compete. The opening ceremony for the Olympic Games is scheduled for July 26, with the artistic gymnastics event set for the following day.
