CANTON — The St. Lawrence University women’s hockey team is gearing up for the 2024-25 season, which will feature one exhibition game, 12 non-conference games and two non-conference home series vs. Ohio State and Mercyhurst.
“It won’t be long until Appleton will be filling with fans for another hockey season,” said head coach Chris Wells. “Having just competed in one of the most exciting stretches of home games last year, we look forward to this season ahead. Many of the same opponents are on the 24-25 schedule from the 23-24 schedule in the non-conference portion. Those games and having the deepest conference in the country will provide us with yet another opportunity to have one of the tougher schedules in college hockey.”
The Scarlet and Brown will open the year, just like last season with an exhibition game at Appleton Arena against Colgate on September 21 for Laurentian Weekend.
Following the exhibition game, St. Lawrence will travel to Merrimack for a school-day game on September 27, before a five-game stretch at home to open October. The Saints are slotted for a series with Ohio State on October 4-5, will play a Tuesday night tilt with Syracuse on October 8 and then host two games against Mercyhurst on October 11-12.
The Saints then travel to Vermont for an away series with the Catamounts on October 18-19, before heading to Rochester to play the Tigers on October 25-26. St. Lawrence is scheduled to open ECAC Hockey play the following weekend on the road against Princeton and Quinnipiac, November 1-2.
The Saints are scheduled for two non-conference games against Route 11 rival Clarkson on November 15 and 16. St. Lawrence will then continue ECAC play with games against Yale and Brown on November 22-23, before wrapping up the fall semester at home against Harvard and Dartmouth on December 6 and 7.
The Saints return to action on January 3-4 with a home series against Colgate and Cornell.
League games against the Golden Knights are scheduled for January 24 and 25 and the Saints will host Quinnipiac and Princeton for senior weekend on February 7-8. The regular season wraps up on the road at Dartmouth and Harvard the following weekend.
“We look forward to hosting defending National Champion Ohio State when they come to town in early October. This will be a great early season test for us to see where our team is at. The two out of conference games vs. Clarkson each year always bring out the best in both teams and in the fans throughout the North Country. Early in the year there will be a neat matchup as we will travel to Merrimack to play our first game of the season. Playing for Merrimack will be two former Saints, Rachel Bjorgan ’24 and Gabi Jones ’24.”
“Our team loved the support we received from the students, St. Lawrence University employees and the community last year! It made a huge difference in all the games played! We can’t wait to see everyone back at Appleton chanting S…L…U…S…L…U…S…L…U!!”
NoteL there is the potential for a second exhibition game against the University of Ottawa, date and time to be determined.
