Timber Creek secured their second consecutive title at the 101st annual Ladies Lincoln Highway golf tournament, with Katie Drew’s runner-up finish contributing to their victory at Sunset Golf Course.
Drew, a recent graduate from Dixon High School, finished with a +29 total over 36 holes in the best-against-bogey format tournament. Her performance helped Timber Creek achieve a team total of +60.
Emily Romancew, a recent graduate from Northern Illinois University, claimed the individual medalist title with a +30 finish, guiding Kishwaukee to second place with a +48 overall score. The third-place team was Sunset with a total of +10.
Other standout performances included Alyson Scheidecker of Sunset placing fourth with a +18 score, and Kristie Pultoak from Timber Creek securing the fifth spot with a score of +16.
Drew, who will be pursuing nursing at Sauk Valley Community College, expressed her excitement about helping her team win back-to-back titles. She detailed her experience playing alongside Romancew and reflected on her overall performance during the tournament.
Throughout the event, Drew’s boyfriend, Kyle Wolfe, provided support as her caddie, offering valuable insights and assistance with reading putts. Despite potential weather challenges, the tournament proceeded smoothly, culminating in Timber Creek’s victory.
