Nelly Korda started the 2024 LPGA Tour season on fire, winning six events and solidifying her position as the top female golfer in the world.
However, things have taken a turn since her impressive start. She has missed the cut in her last three events and is now sidelined with an unusual injury.
Here’s what you need to know about Korda’s injury as she prepares for the Evian Championship and the Olympics:

What happened to Nelly Korda?
Korda announced on Friday that she will be withdrawing from an LET Aramco Team Series tournament due to being bitten by a dog.
“I regret to announce that I must withdraw from next week’s Ladies European Tour tournament in London,” Korda said in a statement posted on her Instagram story. “On Saturday in Seattle, I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and fully recover.”
“I apologize to the LET, the sponsors, and my fans for my absence,” Korda added. “Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to returning to the course soon.”
Although Korda did not disclose the location of the bite or a timeline for her return, the next LPGA Tour event will start on July 11 at the Amundi Evian Championship in Evian-les-Bains, France, which could be a possible return date for her.
If not, Korda is set to compete in the women’s golf field at the 2024 Olympics, with play beginning on August 7, giving her ample time to recover.

Korda’s most recent event was the Women’s PGA Championship in Sammamish, Wash., where she missed the cut for the third time in a row after shooting a second-round 81.
Prior to her recent struggles, Korda had an impressive streak of six wins in eight events, including five consecutive victories, and had not finished lower than tied for 17th. Perhaps this break will help her get back to the form that made her just the fourth LPGA golfer to win six events before June 1.
