The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has released the schedule for Sunday’s play-offs of the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Group B after the conclusion of the Opening Round on Saturday. Four teams will compete for the two available spots in next year’s Finals in Prince Albert, Canada.
The top four teams in Group B standings have advanced to the Sunday’s Play-Offs. The top two teams in the standings will compete for the first ticket to the Finals, while the loser of that game will play against the winner of the match between the third and fourth-placed teams for the second spot in the Finals.
Argentina secured the top spot in the standings with a perfect 5-0 record, followed by New Zealand with a 4-1 record. Both teams will face off at 16:00 local time at Rotary Field, with the winner securing a place in next year’s Finals in Prince Albert.
Canada and Singapore have claimed the third and fourth spots, and will compete in an elimination game at 13:00.
The winner of the Canada-Singapore game will play against the loser of the New Zealand-Argentina game for the second spot in the Finals. This match is scheduled for 19:00.
Hong Kong, China and Israel will battle for fifth place at 10:00.
The XVIII Men’s Softball World Cup features a two-stage format. The Dominican Republic and Australia have advanced from Group A, while Group C is set to take place from 17-21 September in Oklahoma City, USA.
The top two teams from each group, along with two wild cards, will advance to the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals next year, scheduled for 8-13 July, 2025 in Prince Albert, Canada.
