ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women’s ice hockey team has announced its schedule for the 2024-25 season. The 35-game season includes one exhibition game, 27 Hockey East conference match-ups, and four non-conference opponents. Maine will play each Hockey East opponent three times in the regular season.
Maine finished last season with a 15-18-2 overall record and an 11-14-2 conference record. They will begin the 2024-25 season with an exhibition game against the University of New Hampshire on Sept. 22.
The Black Bears open up their regular season with four home games at Alfond Arena beginning with the home-opener weekend against the nationally-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats on Sept. 27 and 28. The following weekend, the Black Bears will host Providence College on Oct. 11 and 12 for the first games of Hockey East conference action.
Next, Maine will hit the road for two consecutive weekends beginning with a two-game series with Boston University, followed by a trip to New York to face the nationally-ranked Colgate Raiders.
Maine returns home for a conference series with Vermont on Nov. 1 and 2, followed by another home weekend as they host Boston College on Nov. 8 and 9.
Hockey East conference play will continue as the team heads to Northeastern University on Nov. 15 and 16. The following weekend the team will take a trip to Vermont for a single game on Nov. 24.
Over Thanksgiving weekend, Maine will host the seven-time national champions, the University of Wisconsin, for two games at Alfond Arena for the first time since 2003, when head coach Molly Engstrom played for Wisconsin.
The Black Bears will continue their home stretch while wrapping up the first semester with a single game at home against Boston University on Dec. 6, followed by a single game against UConn on Dec. 7, before heading to Portland, ME to host Merrimack at the Cross Insurance Arena.
Upon returning from winter break, Maine will hit the road for a border battle with the University of New Hampshire on Jan. 3. The team will continue to Boston to play Boston College on Sunday, Jan. 5.
For their first home series of the new year, Maine will host Harvard for the first time since 2018 on Jan. 10 and 11. This series will conclude the non-conference matches of the regular season.
Next, the team will travel to the University of Connecticut for two games against the Huskies on Jan. 17 and 18.
Maine returns home to host UNH on Jan. 24 and 25 for a border battle with the Wildcats.
As conference play continues, Maine will face Providence College in a single away game on Jan. 31, followed by a game on Feb. 1 against Holy Cross.
On Feb. 7, Maine will host the Northeastern University Huskies for one game at home.
The final road trip of the regular season will be on Feb. 14 and 15 as the team takes on the Merrimack Warriors in North Andover, MA.
The final series of the regular season will be at home, as the Black Bears host Holy Cross for two games on Feb. 21 and 22.
The opening round of the Hockey East Tournament begins on Feb. 28 with the championship game scheduled for Mar. 9 or 10, depending on location. All dates and times are subject to change, with the most up-to-date information listed on GoBlackBears.com
